The Full Story Southbanquet at the South Bank, 31 August and 1 September
Southbanquet, A feast for 500, at the South Bank, London, will mark the end of summer on 31 August and 1 September. There will be harvesting, cooking, baking bread from locally grown heritage wheat, sharing recipes, hearing food stories and connecting with what we eat and where it comes from. This weekend of food, events and music performed by family bands has been curated by Clare Patey. Clare has been described as 'the Cecille B DeMille of public eating'. From 2007 to 2011, she created Feast on the Bridge for The Thames Festival. A meal of ethically-sourced food will be cooked by chef Thomas Hunt. Thomas, who used to run courses and demonstrations at River Cottage, is an official chef of Feeding the 5000, a global event that aims to feed more than 5,000 people with food that would otherwise have been wasted. Tickets available from www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson/southbanquet.... See Clare's snapshots of Feast on the Bridge on the Directory here, and Eleanor Margolies' essay on Feast here.
