An alfresco meal of ethically sourced food will mark the end of summer. For the August Bank Holiday week-end, the South Bank Centre hosts this pop-up feast on the terrace overlooking the Thames.
The meal is cooked by Thomas Hunt, former River Cottage chef, founder of the eco-collective The Forgotten Feast and official chef of Feeding the 5000.
This weekend of food, events and workshops has been curated by Clare Patey. Clare is an artist who works with food and has been described as 'the Cecille B DeMille of public eating'. From 2007 to 2011, she created Feast on the Bridge for The Thames Festival.
Rearing animals for food produces a huge carbon footprint. But not when fed on our vegetable surplus and peelings. The pork served in this meal comes from pigs that have been fed on organic vegetables that would otherwise have been wasted providing them with a balanced diet that produces a healthy animal. Southbanquet is listed under both the Southbank Centre and Clare Patey.
