Salt was a performance installation created in a four-storey derelict salt factory in the Zollveriene Cokery for the Ruhr Trienale, Essen, Germany in 2008.

The building was originally home to the transformations and chemical processes that created sodium phosphate (Salt) from coal. During each performance 90 audience members were taken on a magical journey, inspired by the space, its history, alchemical imagery and the power of archetypes.

Louise Ann Wilson was co-director and scenographer.
