Matt Henson: North Star was written following a research trip to Greenland with Cape Farewell. It tells the story of Matthew Henson, the first man, a black man, to reach the North Pole. Henson's achievement was denied by Robert Peary who claimed to have been the first person to reach the pole. It is a story of love, loss and broken friendship, a tale of Arctic betrayal and an allegory for climate responsibility. It was presented at a rehearsed reading at Lyric Hammersmith in 2012 and is published in Mojisola Adebayo: Plays One by Oberon Books (2011). photo: Del La Grace Volcano
