A commission by Stour Valley Arts and Wigmore Hall, King’s Wood Symphony uses the King's Wood at Challock, Kent as inspiration, performance space and instrument. This piece, composed by Matthew King, creates a dialogue between the ancient woodland space and the contemporary urban environment. The work included horns, percussion and digitally manipulated sounds of the forest and was presented first as a grand symphony, with musicians playing and moving through a mile and a half of the forest, on 23 June, and secondly as two pieces of chamber music at Wigmore Hall, London, 30 June. The electronic score is by Nye Parry with contributions from Mike Roberts, students from Guildhall School of Music and Drama and students from local schools. photo: Stour Valley Arts and Darius Wilson
