The Lightswitch Collective was formed to produce The Lightswitch Project. The Collective included: writer and performer Lucy Foster, actor Toby Jones, artists Pete Harrison and Tim Vize-Martin of propeller performance company, and producer Laura McDermott. A TippingPoint Commission, The Lightswitch Project follows actor Toby Jones as he finds out what happens when a light switch is turned on.
Jones meets various experts to explain the evolution of the eye, the workings of the national grid and the fact that people don't really know what electricity is. His journey also uncovers the carboniferous tree that made the lump of coal that burnt to make the light bulb glow.
The Lightswitch Project aired on BBC Radio 4, 19 April 2011.
