2001
Red Skies Over the Severn is set on a Worcestershire farm during the 2001
foot and mouth outbreak. Each member of a family isolated by quarantine
regulations has a different vision for the future. A work-placement student
arrives and brings family and business tensions to a crisis which can’t be
avoided. This present-day situation is counterpointed with a story about a Second World War evacuee and flashbacks to the writing of the Domesday Book.
The play was first produced by Worcester Swan Theatre and was reviewed
in the national press.
Lance Woodman received a Pearson playwriting bursary for this
play.
