The Legend of Slim McBride and the Lost Tribe is a journey of exploration through the rainforests of South America. This magical tale features some of the wonderful and exotic plants, birds, people and animals that inhabit one of the last great wildernesses on planet Earth, large areas of which are under increasing threat from the modern world.
As the story unfolds, some crucial questions are asked about the future of these magnificent forests and the eco-system that depends on them. Why is it so important that they be protected? How will their preservation benefit us all?
Using a blend of songs and comedy, Scottish Opera’s animateurs involve over 11,000 young actors and singers in performing The Legend of Slim McBride and the Lost Tribe in their own school productions to which family members and other students can be invited.

Composed by Alan Penman
Story and lyrics by Allan Dunn

Touring Scotland in Autumn 2006 and Spring and Summer 2007.

Auntie Janet Saves the Planet, an interactive opera specially created for pre-school, P2 pupils, follows the plight of several species of animals currently listed as endangered in south-west Scotland.

Through live performance, film animation and puppetry, four singer / actors take the young audience, who participate as a group of voles forced from their homes by gigantic bulldozers, on a magical journey under the sea and into the treetops to help the Song Thrush.

Created in partnership with North Ayrshire Council, Auntie Janet Saves the Planet was first presented in Spring 2002.
Scottish Opera For All presented further performances throughout central Scotland in spring 2005.
